On July 13, 2021, we went to visit the workshops of the Normandy Yacht Service shipyard in Caen.
Working meetings with the internal design office of the shipyard and foremen of the yard, as well as the owner and interior designer of the boat Pierre Frutschi.
These visits are a great opportunity for our teams to validate the progress of the construction, check the adjustments and finishes, and answer specific questions from the yard concerning details regrding the integration of equipment, etc.
The DG52 ′ now has a finished boiler work. The layout is being installed while technical installations are almost all completed. Wood panels (partitions and other furniture elements) have been received from our manufacturer. Some are already on board and integrated, others in the varnishing phase and the last, waiting to be installed.
The boat’s engine, its rudders, steering system as well as the electrical / hydraulic elements and plumbing installations are fully in place.
Opalia51 ′, sees its last plating sheets being laid. This is always a difficult phase because this rear “false chine” presents strongly curved sheets which require real know-how from boilermakers.
Bustel structure is visible on following pictures and soon the side plates of the bustel will be installed to completely waterproof the hull of the boat.
The turnaround will take place during the month of August. This step is decisive because the work areas multiply as soon as the boat is then in the right direction: delphnière, teugue, roof, cockpit, aft gantry, centerboard and rudders. So many parts that may, for some, be already started outside the boat … so much time saved for the rest of the construction.
The boilermaking will be completed by the very end of October 2021.
New nautical news will follow soon!
