Description of JUNO 40′ – EPIC
ITS HISTORY
This catamaran has a rather unusual history. It was acquired by its current owners when it was just a composite unit abandoned on the coast of Brittany. We could already see the potential of this beautiful catamaran. When JUNO YACHTS and our naval architecture agency arrived, EPIC simply consisted of two composite hulls, combined with a platform/nacelle, all from the Ksenia-Yachts company in Ukraine.
To move the boat to Caen, the JUNO YACHTS teal had to find a solution. In the end, our partner company, La Passagère, based in Saint-Malo, took care of the motorisation, the keel fitting and the manufacture and fitting of the composite rudders. It took a long time to prepare for the delivery of EPIC to Normandy , which took place in the summer of 2022.
Since then, the catamaran has been housed at the V1D2 shipyard, a company located in Caen’s industrial zone dedicated to the nautical industry. The Vincent Lebailly Yacht design agency then began a long phase of design and construction. Although the jull ans nacelle were already there, everything still had to be imagined and designed. From the sail plans to the choice of materials and the optimisation of space, everything had to be imagined for this boat.
Work on EPIC finally began in early 2023, thanks to the work of JUNO YACHTS and occasional help from local partners (composite work, electrical work, painting, etc.). Since then, many changes have been made : the roof has been extended, numerous reinforcements have been laminated, openings have been made, the boat has been painted and much more.
The work is now guided by one objective : a launch in the spring of 2025. The next few weeks are going to be busy and full of progress for this beautiful catamaran.
What is JUNO YACHTS ?
JUNO YACHTS is a boatyard created by Vincent Lebailly, the manager and architect of our VLYD agency. This Normandy-based boatbuilder handles both the project management and the construction of various projects, including custom-built boats and/ or small production runs. JUNO YACHTS draws on the skills of the Vincent Lebailly yacht design architectural firm, the yar’d in-house staff and local partners specialising in the boatbuilding sector.
JUNO YACHTS has its own range of boat curently being designed and/or built. These include the JUNO HOME, UTOPIA 480′, etc. But the yard can also take on the construction of custom projects from the outset, or simply as part of a finishing project, to ensure that the project is seen through to completion.
